All About The Herbs We Use ...
Being a naturopath I am very fond of herbs and flowers. We have a garden bursting with them ... lavender, chamomile, aloe vera, calendula, rosemary, mint, thyme, borage, comfrey and sage to name a few.
Many of our Kinfolk products contain botanicals sourced directly from this very garden. We grow organically with no pesticides or chemicals coming anywhere near our plants.
So why and how do we use them ?
Flowers and herbs have been used for hundreds of years to treat all sorts of ailments. We us them to calm inflamed skin, to help support skin healing, as a safe and effective treatment for everything from eczema to nappy rash.
For naturopathic use we harvest at the optimal time, dry them completely then infuse them in the sun over several months in extra virgin olive oil to extract their healing and medicinal properties.
We use them to naturally colour our soap.
And last but not least, for their gorgeous scent.
Our herbs are waste free from start to finish. We seed save from the year before's crop, we plant in our chemical free, organic soil, we dry them in the sun using no gas or electricity and once we have extracted everything we can from them we compost anything left on site and it eventually goes back into the soil to start the process over again.
